Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination

Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination

Illicit discharges to our waterways occur due to illegal connections to our storm drain system from residential or commercial areas. These connections may be intentional or they could be unknown to the property owner. Failing septic systems, illegal dumping practices, and improper disposal of sewage (such as from boating or camping) can also be considered illicit discharges.
Our Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program is designed to educate citizens and County employees to identify and report illicit discharges that are contaminating our water resources. Learn more about how you can help protect water quality in your community by reporting suspicious substances in your local waterways. Read our Illicit Discharge Public Reporting Guide to learn more about identifying and reporting illicit discharges.
