Fulton Films screens a movie by a Fulton County filmmaker. It tells the story of 18 African-American Olympians who triumphed at the 1936 games in Berlin. Hear more from Filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper. I ran track and I actually never knew there were 18 African-Americans who set sail for Nazi-Germany in 1936. I always knew there was Jesse Owens, so to discover there were 17 other black athletes on that boat competing and winning medals including two black women who have been left invisible in history, I felt it was incredibly important to tell the full story and include all of the people who helped bring gold home for America.
