The Fulton County Department of Senior Services, in collaboration with Grady Health System, is pleased to announce the launch of Senior Medicare Wellness Days, a pioneering new initiative designed to bring comprehensive healthcare services directly to the senior community.
Senior Medicare Wellness Days is a free service available to Fulton County Seniors age 65 years and above with Medicare Part B. Services include advanced-care planning, neuro-cognitive assessments, depression screenings, fall risk assessments, home safety evaluations, and educational sessions.
Beginning Wednesday, May 22, 2024, this program has been offered at various Fulton County senior multipurpose facilities and neighborhood senior center locations. Fulton County Senior Services and Grady Health System encourages eligible seniors to take advantage of their Annual Wellness Visit benefit.
"We are committed to enhancing the healthcare access of our Fulton County senior adults," said Dr. Pamela Roshell, Fulton County Chief Operating Officer for Health, Human Services and Public Works. "Senior Medicare Wellness Days represents a significant step forward in our efforts to provide comprehensive and convenient health services to our community's most vulnerable members. By reducing barriers to access, this program aims to foster a healthier, more vibrant Fulton County senior community.”
“At Grady, we understand the importance of expanding healthcare access for the community we are privileged to serve,” said Dr. Kelley Carroll, Chief of Ambulatory Medicine at Grady. “We have committed to meeting residents where they are by investing in additional outpatient centers, like our Cascade center, and the upcoming opening of our Lee + White location late this summer. Our new partnership with Fulton County will allow us to further our reach by ensuring seniors are aware of the resources available to them to enhance their health and well-being.”
In addition to the above-mentioned services, Senior Medicare Wellness Days will also offer educational sessions and workshops for seniors and their families - focusing on various health topics. Seniors with chronic conditions can benefit from specialized programs and support groups tailored to their needs, providing essential care and information for managing their health.
