Fulton County Animal Control Services Resume Immediately Within City of Atlanta

April 17, 2024
At its meeting today, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Atlanta, resuming animal control services within the city limits effective immediately.

Residents in need of animal control services can call once again 404-613-0358 to request services.

“I am glad that we have been able to resolve this matter with the City of Atlanta expeditiously and respectfully,” said Chairman Robb Pitts. “We are especially grateful for staff from both Fulton County and the City of Atlanta who continued to work to protect the safety of animals and people during this pause in services.”

On Tuesday, April 16, the Fulton County received an intergovernmental agreement executed by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. The item was immediately added to today’s Board of Commissioners’ agenda and authorizes payment for services.

During the 10-day pause in service, the Fulton County Animal Services Facility on Fulton Industrial Boulevard continued to accept animals from City of Atlanta residents. In that period, the facility accepted approximately 98 dogs. Overall, calls for services from the City of Atlanta represent approximately 55% of animal control services in Fulton County.
