For many people, the holiday season represents the happiest time of the year. It's when millions gather to celebrate special holidays such as Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's Eve. Family and friends come together to share meals and fellowship with each other.
For others, the holidays may trigger feelings of loneliness, sadness and depression. Common causes include: lack of money, caring for aging family, feeling overwhelmed, or dealing with the loss of a loved one. Mental illness is present throughout the entire year, but many find that is worsens during the holiday season.
Keeping this in mind, the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) has developed a series of brief videos to help employees navigate through the holiday season. In moments of sadness or uncertainty, please remember that help is here and "Good mental health is a gift we all deserve."
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
