Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Abdur-Rahman Receives Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award

Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman is being honored with the prestigious "Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award" by AmeriCorps and the Office of the United States President.

The Commissioner will be recognized during the 2023 Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Lifetime Achievement Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 21. This special ceremony will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, located at 101 Jackson Street, N.E., near downtown Atlanta from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

During the ceremony, Commissioner Abdur-Rahman will receive the President Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award, along with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award medals. In addition to the distinguish medallion, a letter of appreciation from “The White House” and a citation of “grateful recognition”, from AmeriCorps have also been bestowed upon the Commissioner.

“Service is what I do and why I am here,” said Commissioner Abdur-Rahman. “It is within my heart and soul to serve not only the people of District 6, but all of Fulton County, and to be recognized for something that I gladly wake up every day to do is more than an honor, it is truly a blessing. I am excited to be able to stand for those in the Mighty District 6. This honor from the President Biden and Vice President Harris means all that we do is being recognized, and for that, I am grateful.”

The prestigious award is being presented on behalf of the Points of Light, AmeriCorps, and the 46th President of the United States, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., and Vice President Kamala Harris. In their congratulations to Commissioner Abdur-Rahman, the President and Vice President commended the Commissioner not only for her valuable contributions, but for her years of dedicated service, which have made a difference in the lives of many Fulton County
residents.
