Rhonda Heckard, a native Californian, was born and raised in Los Angeles. After graduating from University High School, Rhonda began her career in the Special Education Program for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she worked as an Assistant Teacher. During her time with the school district, Rhonda pursued further education at West Los Angeles City College and Mt. St. Mary’s College.
With a lifelong passion for working with children, Rhonda dedicated 17 years to Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). However, life took her and her family to Sugar Land, Texas, where she co-owned a small business for 15 years. In 2022, Rhonda relocated to Atlanta and joined Madam DA's Executive Team, assuming the role of Executive Assistant to the District Attorney.
In May of 2023, Rhonda achieved a significant milestone by completing her Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies and Elementary Education from Western Governors University. Recognizing her expertise and dedication, the District Attorney appointed Ms. Heckard to lead the Reach Transformational Youth Program as a Reach Administrator. In this role, she will collaborate with Director of Juvenile Services Aakeem Woodard, Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney Jawara Mars (Middle and Highschool Student Services), and Reach Administrator Yolanda Shorthouse.
