Jawara Mars

Jawara Mars is a dedicated prosecutor with an impressive 10-year track record of serving the Fulton and DeKalb County communities. His career journey began in Fulton County Juvenile Court, where his outstanding work earned him the prestigious title of Juvenile Court Attorney of the Year in 2014 by the Georgia Conference on Children and Families. From there, ADA Mars moved to the Complex Trial Division under the guidance of then-Deputy District Attorney Fani T. Willis, gaining invaluable courtroom experience prosecuting a wide range of cases, including aggravated assault and armed robbery.

In 2018, Jawara served the DeKalb community as a Senior ADA in the Crime Strategies and Community Partnerships Unit (CSCPU), where he focused on collaborative and restorative justice practices, working to rebuild trust and faith in the criminal justice system. His commitment to the community extended to the establishment of the SB440 Unit upon his return to the Fulton County DA in 2020. Currently, he plays a vital role in the REACH mentoring program, directly engaging with youth in South Fulton middle and high schools, providing them with opportunities to dream and connecting them with community partners to turn those dreams into reality.

Beyond his legal career, Jawara has a passion for youth development and empowerment, particularly among young black men. He actively volunteers with various organizations across the metro Atlanta area, including the S.M.A.R.T. Moves Chess Program and the Next Level Boys Academy, serving as a mentor and panelist.

A native of the Stone Mountain and Lithonia communities, Jawara grew up in Georgia after his family moved from New York in the early nineties. He earned degrees in Health & Exercise Science and Political Science from Furman University on a football scholarship. Additionally, he is a proud member of the esteemed fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, Inc. He then pursued his law degree at Florida A&M College of Law, graduating in 2012 before returning to Georgia to practice law. Jawara Mars takes immense pride in being the father of a beautiful 6-year-old daughter named Malika.
