Assistant Chief Stanley Mason, Sr., born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1962, is a proud parent of two grown children, a boy and a girl, as well as two cherished grandchildren, all residing in Texas.
Having dedicated 11 years to the United States Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist, Stan's career predominantly unfolded abroad with four years stationed in South Korea and five in Japan. In 1993, he transitioned to the Waco Police Department, where he patrolled for 25 years before retiring in 2019. The city recognized his exceptional service by proclaiming August 2, 1998, as "Stan Mason Day." Noteworthy achievements include Stan's distinction as the first minority to earn Rookie of the Year in 1994, the "Peoples Choice Officer of the Year" in 2001, and the City of Waco Customer Service Award in 2006.
After relocating with his wife Michele to Metro Atlanta in August 2019, Stan embraced a new role with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in December 2022. Assigned to the Case Intake Division, he relishes researching and presenting cases to the Grand Jury. Stan remains ever-ready to assist wherever needed, advocating the benefits of organized time management to yield positive results and minimize stress. Balancing his passions, including an ardent support for the Philadelphia Eagles, he approaches life with a mission-oriented mindset and a penchant for laughter.
Drawing from 36 years of policing experience, Stan understands the art of harmonizing personal life with the demands of contemporary law enforcement. "Each case I review offers an opportunity to impact someone's life. The stack of tasks may grow, but ultimately, it's the quality of the work that leaves a lasting mark, not the quantity." Stan's philosophy is rooted in honoring his parents, striving to lead a life that echoes his father's adage: "Most men are born resembling their father but pass away mirroring their choices."
