Assistant Chief Special Victims Division Paula Duprey was born in Georgetown, the capital city of Guyana, located on South America’s North Atlantic coast. She has also lived in St. John’s, the capital and largest city of Antigua and Barbuda in the West Indies. Since moving to the U.S. at about age 11, Paula has lived in Orange, New Jersey, and quite a few places in Georgia, which she absolutely loves and calls home.
She began her law enforcement career more than 15 years ago as a Georgia Department of Corrections officer. She then joined Georgia State University’s Police Department, where she became a certified field training officer, a general instructor, a crisis intervention instructor, and a defensive tactics Instructor. She rose in the ranks to sergeant and supervised 12 to 15 officers. While at Georgia State, she was the first female to qualify to join the Crime Suppression Team and became the supervisor for six officers.
After joining the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in 2018, Paula was assigned to the Crimes Against Women and Children Unit, where she worked with prosecutors to achieve justice. She has always had a heart for helping others, but since becoming an investigator in this office, she feels that she is fulfilling her life’s purpose by working closely with victims of the most heinous of crimes.
She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Sociology, Criminal Justice and Public Administration.
